Alumni

The Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts is responsible for the education/training of many prestigious talents, such as Boyz II Men, Mark Webber, Karen Malina White, and many others.

Boyz II men
Pictured at left is Boyz II Men, CAPA alumni. Here they attended for vocal music and have accredited Mister King of the vocal department for bringing them together.

Bilal Oliver
Bilal Oliver is a product of CAPA's vocal department and released his debut album, "First Born Second," in 2000.

Karen Slack
Karen Slack has appeared in many opera productions and concerts around the world. Slack has also won multiple awards for her astounding musical talent.

Mark Webber
Former drama major Mark Webber is a rising movie star. He has been featured in such movies as Drive Me Crazy and Snow Day and credits drama department leader Mr. Mel Williams.

Angela Nissel
A former Creative Writing major, Miss Nissel wrote "The Broke Diaries." She has appeared on such talk shows as Montel and Oprah.

Joey DeFrancesco
As a gospel artist, Miss Patton was formerly a vocal major at CAPA. She released her debut album "Born Again" in 1999.

Karen Malina White
Karen Malina White has premiered on such sitcoms as the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and currently stars in Malcolm and Eddie, a show which features former Cosby kid, Malcom Jamal-Warner.

?uestlove
?uestlove (also known as Ahmir Khalib Thompson) is the drummer of The Roots and became friends with Black Thought when they were both students at CAPA, thus forming the group. He is also an owner of Okayplayer.com.

Christian McBride
Christian McBride went on to study at Julliard and is an acoustic as well as electric bassist whose latest album is "Sci-Fi."

Karen Malina White

Tamika Patton

Mrs. Savitz was our principal for more than a decade during which time her perseverance and dedication was instrumental in gaining funding for our new building and that among other things has more then earned her the right of honorary alumni.
